JOB OPENING: STAFF ACCOUNTANT

 

Cost Accounting (40%) – Develop and oversee cost accounting program for dye process with a multitude of variable costs for different projects.

 

  • Collect and study data to determine and project the costs of each dye project which has variable costs based upon the type/color of dye, textile chemicals, volume, utilities (i.e. gas, water), type of garment wash, and labor.

  • Analyze changes in dye, textile chemicals and garment washing techniques to determine effects on costs.

  • Compile and analyze actual costs from vendor invoices, utilities bills, and payroll report. Prepare periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs for each dye project.

  • Provide management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of each project. Work directly with management to make key decisions regarding internal costs to determine pricing on each dye project.

  • Analyze and explore options for cost reductions (i.e. reducing electricity usage during on-peak hour). Work directly with management to implement new systems/policies to reduce costs.

  • Obtain reports for physical dye/chemical inventory counts and monitoring cycle count.

 

Budgeting (40%) – Design and implement effective budgeting policies and procedures for each department (general office, production, purchasing, and shipping) and each dye project.

 

  • Analyze financial information (i.e. revenues, expenditures, and cash flow management) and monitor organizational spending to ensure all operations for each project are within budget.

  • Examine whether budget submissions can be achieved based on known capacity constraints (i.e. number of machines, load capacity, labor availability, working hours) and inform management of potential problem areas.

  • Compare actual to budgeted results at the end of each reporting period and report to management on significant variances.

  • Work directly with management to analyze proposed plans and recommend enhancements or alternatives to the budget model if the projected results are unsatisfactory.

  • Update the budget model to account for significant changes in the business (i.e. price increase in dyes/textile chemicals, increase in labor costs, purchase of new machines/equipment, etc.)

  • Estimate future financial needs and inform department managers of the status and availability of funds.

 

Forecasting (20%) – Design new metrics and prepare reports to monitor forecast accurately and analyze all sales trends for each type of project per client.

 

  • Perform regular analysis on various metrics such as fashion trends, fashion seasons, fashion show timeline and determine forecast presentation with accuracy.

  • Coordinate with management and production teams and gather and analyze data from multiple sources to formulate future sales forecasts.

  • Suggest improvements for other departments to meet sales goals.

 

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration (Accounting Concentration) or Related. Software knowledge in QuickBooks, Excel, and Microsoft Office.

 

40 hrs/week. Interview and job site in Bellflower, CA.
